The big man continues to improve his game each year and his trademark off-loads returned during the Tri-Nations tournament. The hard-running prop was inspirational for Brisbane in 2004 and was rewarded with the Paul Morgan Medal, as Broncos Player of the Year. He was equally as impressive in both Queensland and Australian jumpers, and the quietly-spoken veteran is now rightly regarded as one of the game’s premier props.
FACT: Petero’s naming as Broncos Player of the Year in 2004 tipped the scales in favour of the forwards by one -- 9-8 to the forwards after 17 seasons
