Carroll's Efforts Rewarded

Broncos' lock Tonie Carroll's hard work this season for his team has paid off with a call-up to the Kangaroos' Train-on Squad for their tri-series against New Zealand and Great Britain later on in the year.
Carroll is amongst 6 Broncos who have been named in the squad, with Darren Lockyer, Petero Civinoceva, Shane Webcke, Shaun Berrigan and Brent Tate also impressing the selectors enough to be picked.
Carroll has been in career best form for the Broncos this season, and is not an outsider of putting on his first Australian jersey. His hard-hitting defence and good line-breaking abilities have made him a front-runner for Broncos Player of the Year, and to pull on an Australian jersey will certainly make the Broncos' lock satisfied with his season.
The representative scene at international level is not an unfamiliar ground for Carroll, who represented New Zealand in their World Cup campaign in 2000.
Darren Lockyer will most-likely be captaining the Kangaroos in their next outing, having captained them 5 times before, with only 1 loss in that record. Lockyer's first game as captain against New Zealand was not a happy one, but he turned the frown upside down with a brilliant display in the 3-test series against Great Britain, which the Aussies took out 3-nil.
Two other players were named with these 6, with Melbourne veteran Scott Hill earning a call-up, as well as Queensland sensation Billy Slater.
