Clydesdales make it 6-in-a-row!
by Michael Fedrick
Sunday April 25, 2004

The Toowoomba Clydesdales extended their winning streak to six-in-a-row yesterday, with a gutsy and determined victory over reigning premiers and competition leaders Redcliffe. The Redcliffe Dolphins, who were undefeated before the match, were always going to be an extremely tough prospect for the second-placed Clydesdales. Buoyed by impressive performances from Ian Lacey, Neville Costigan and Nick Parfitt, Toowoomba eventually won the tight match 34-26.

The first half brought torrid conditions for rugby league, but none of that came from the weather! Tempers flared from the opening siren, with punishing defense and plenty of huge hits. The Clydesdales opened the scoring in the 5th minute, when a brilliant sideline run from Scott Minto gave Berrick Barnes an open paddock. The premiers quickly hit back, with centre Brian Jellick snatching an intercept to cross for a simple try.
