Brisbane will go into the State of Origin series in the unprecedented position of being undefeated after they extended their winning streak to seven matches with a 50-12 thrashing of the hapless Northern Eagles. The Broncos ran in 9 tries to 2 with winger Lote Tuqiri breaking the long standing point scoring record of 24 points for a game set by Terry Matterson in the club's debut against Manly Sea Eagles back in 1988. The 2002 variety of the Eagles had no answer for the speedy, powerful back who scored three brilliant tries and kicked 7 from 9 standing in for the injured Michael De Vere, for a total of 26 points.
