Brisbane Broncos vs The Sharks

Telstra Premiership Round 4
ANZ Stadium, Brisbane, Sunday April 7, 2002

The Brisbane Broncos have broken their near-12 month home win drought with one of their most courageous victories in their proud 14-year history. With three players out for the entire game, including chief playmaker Darren Lockyer, and Petero Civoniceva struggling on despite a painful knee injury, the Broncos battled to hang on to their 12-0 half time lead. In the end it was all courage as the hot finishing Sharks were denied by just two points. A penalty goal missed from directly in front after the half time siren by Brett Kimmorley came back to haunt the visitors.
