While turning the corner on their bad form, the Brisbane Broncos still have a lot of work to do despite a 36-2 thrashing of Canberra at ANZ Stadium. After leading 14-2 at half time, the Broncos ran in four second half tries to record their equal biggest win against the Raiders that ensures they will finish in no worse than third spot. However, the scoreline is somewhat deceiving, with the Raiders bombing several tryscoring opportunities and the Broncos again committing a high number of handling errors. Allan Langer's return from injury, while not making much direct impact on the field, coincided with a much improved forward effort, particularly the likes of Brad Meyers, Dane Carlaw, Gorden Tallis and Petero Civoniceva. Only 13 missed tackles is a promising sign defensively, and 12 line breaks also signifies a return to attacking form. Darren Lockyer also enjoyed the honour of becoming the club's highest ever pointscorer when he converted Lote Tuqiri's second try midway through the second half.
