Their unbeaten run finally broken, a depleted Brisbane Broncos succumbed to an enthusiastic and fired up St George-Illawarra at Aussie Stadium. After losing three current Origin players and a fourth who played last season, the Broncos were always up against the wall in this match but despite those setbacks led going into half time and took the lead again midway early in the second half. However, the Dragons were more determined and showed better composure in attack to move them into the top 8 with an eight-point win that leaves the Broncos second behind the Bulldogs on for and against.
