Match Summary

After four lacklustre rounds, the Broncos hit their straps in devastating fashion against Newcastle, running in 34 unanswered points in their 42-8 win over one of the premiership favourites in Newcastle. The Knights got off to a flier, leading 6-0 after 7 minutes, but Brisbane fought back to lead 14-8 at the break. From that point they were never headed. Ben Ikin was the standout in a brilliant all round team display, where the Broncos did not have a bad player. Conversely, it was a sad night for Newcastle, with Robbie O'Davis, Clinton O'Brien, Glenn Grief and Steve Simpson all injured.
