A dour clash dominated by a poor performance by debut referee Shane Hayne. The Broncos were unable to put the Tigers away after holding an 18-2 half time lead, the second half stifled by slow tactics from the Tigers and a string of high tackles. The only real positive that could come from the clash was the performance of Shaun Berrigan, which went a long way to deciding Brisbane's halfback battle. Scott Prince came off the bench in the second half, but despite the Tigers tiring from too much tackling, he could not make an impact.
