Match Summary
Bereaved Broncos winger, Wendell Sailor, has played a key role in turning around his ailing club's 6-game losing streak with a powerhouse display against the Northern Eagles at NorthPower Stadium. Just four days after the tragic passing of his father, Daniel, Sailor was outstanding for the full 80 minutes, scoring two tries and making numerous crucial plays during a contest that was much closer than the scoreline indicated.
It was a welcome return to the winners' circle for the Broncos, but with a host of handling errors, there is still plenty of work to be done. Fullback and captain Darren Lockyer suffered another concussion after a high shot from Mark O'Meley. The match marked Sailor's last regular season match of Rugby League, and also the last match for Eagles captain Geoff Toovey.
