Match Summary

The defending NRL premiers' defence went from bad to worse with arguably their worst performance since their 48-6 humiliation against Melbourne in round 3 of 1999 when they capitulated 40-18 to twelfth placed Canberra Raiders. It was Brisbane's fourth successive loss at ANZ Stadium, and their sixth loss in succession, a club record. Adding injury to insult, captain Darren Lockyer was rushed to hospital with severe concussion after full time and strike forward Carl Webb suffered a hamstring tear.

After rushing to an 8-0 lead, the Broncos looked set to end their losing run, but a simple mistake with a try beckoning saw the Raiders score at the other end and began a 40-point unanswered run which took them to their first win at ANZ Stadium.
