Brisbane became the first side in the 2001 premiership to win at home when they defeated Penrith 38-22 in an entertaining match at ANZ Stadium in Brisbane. After last week's narrow victory and patchy performance, the Broncos started magnificently, leading 16-4 after 20 minutes. The Panthers stayed in the contest, trailing just 20-16 midway through the second half, but the Broncos came home strongly to run away with a comfortable 16 point win.
