The Broncos are back. That's the emphatic message that comes from Brisbane's remarkable 44-28 annihilation of St George-Illawarra in the first of the elimination semi-finals at the Sydney Football Stadium. A blistering 26-point blitz in the opening 30 minutes all but assured the Broncos of a repeat of last year's Preliminary Final when they clashed with Parramatta at Stadium Australia.

Wendell Sailor ran in four tries - and he had to work for all of them. It was the first time the great winger scored four tries in a first grade premiership match, and his jubilation was obvious. The only downside for the defending premiers was conceding 28 points, although 10 of them came in extremely questionable circumstances.
