Getting Better, Broncos
by
Thursday August 14, 2003

For the first time in three weeks, I can come here and be satisfied with the Broncos recent performance. For a change, it was an enthusiastic, gutsy display, and we never gave up until the siren went for full-time. Now I can breath easy. Or can I?

Was it just me, or did our attack look much more structured? I also noticed that our attack wasn't disjointed, like in recent weeks. No, Lockyer didn't jump the fence and put on a jumper. There was another talented bloke on the field that night, and I bet every Broncos fan wished he wasn't going elsewhere next year. Scott Prince was brilliant. Great organization, great balls skills, great vision, and his kicking game wasn't too bad either. He was going well, and under Scotty's organization, so was the team. Until tragedy struck! Scott Prince tore his hamstring, and he'll now miss 4-5 weeks.

It's such a shame. He just can't seem to stay on the field. He's a talented player, and we all saw that on Friday night but unfortunately, he's been terribly unlucky with injuries.

Scotty's injury was the only down side to last Friday night's performance. I thought all the boys played well, Michael De Vere our best. He's such a confident, smart, and tough player which is why he means so much to the team. You can always rely on Micky D!

We lost the match. But we're improving, so I'm not too disappointed at all. We didn't play great, but we played good. Nevertheless, we're improving so it's a good sign.

So how will we go this weekend against the Tigers? It's a do or die match for us....well if we're any chance of the top 4 then it is.

Lockyer could be back this week, so it looks like our chances of winning are much higher. This is a must win game, and if we win it, we need to win it well. Our F/A has been degrading by the week. We need a huge win against the Tigers to improve our for and against because it could play an important role in deciding the top 4.

Andrew Johns has been ruled out for the season with a neck injury. Lets hope it's nothing to serious, and that Joey can come back better than ever next season. Well, not better than ever, because we don't want the Newcastle Knights going too good next year do we? =P

It could mean Newcastle's finals hopes are shattered. Personally, I believe the Knights have no chance, and will be eliminated in the first week of the finals, IF they make the top 8. Joey means everything to the Knights, and without Johns, the Knights don't stand much of a chance. (It's ok Knights fans, we feel your pain at the moment!).

But don't going putting bets on the Warriors this Friday night. The Warriors are also missing Stacey Jones, and the Knights will most definitely want to prove that they can win without Johns.
