When most people think of Carl Webb, they remember a barnstorming State of Origin try on debut in 2001 that was potentially the turning point of the match. Webb took the ball 10 metres out from the New South Wales line and barged and bounced off four defenders before slamming the ball down to give Queensland a 16-6 half time lead. They went on to win 34-16.
Unfortunately for Webb the next two seasons were plagued with injury and he struggled to repeat that magnificent effort.
After some time in the first grade wilderness, Webb returns to first grade in 2004 an older and wiser player and will prove vital as the Broncos battle the traditional injury and fatigue dominated representative period.
