Ben Ikin's Broncos career has been cruelled by injury.  After joining the club from North Sydney in 2000, Ikin managed just 46 first grade games in four seasons.

After a solid 2000 in which he won his first premiership, Ikin began 2001 in fine form, providing the dominant playmaker at five-eighth the Broncos needed with the retirement of Kevin Walters.  His almost perfect performance against Newcastle in round 5 of that season had many talking about him as a lay down misere to the Queensland number 6 jersey that season.

A week later his football career crashed down around him when he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament without a hand laid on him against the New Zealand Warriors.  8 months of painful rehabilitation was then met with devastation when he reinjured the knee in preseason training, forcing another reconstruction which ruled him out of the entire 2002 season.

He returned in 2003 and played solidly throughout, including playing all three State of Origin games for Queensland at five-eighth.  However, his knee simply didn't feel right and Ikin decided to retire at season's end.

With the Broncos suffering an early season injury crisis in 2004, Ikin earnt a surprise recall against Canberra and is bound to receive more game time with the release of Motu Tony and the inevitable drain State of Origin has on the club.
