The game of the hard-working young forward continued to grow in 2004 and he was rewarded with Queensland State of Origin selection. He displayed versatility for the Broncos, smashing the ball up the middle and drifting out wide, depending on the role coach Wayne Bennett needed from him. Corey also unearthed goalkicking skills. Blessed with great hands, the 22-year-old will be hoping another big season will keep him in the Maroons jersey in 2005.
FACT: His 13 goals last season makes him third on the Broncos’ goalkicking list of forwards, behind only the prolific original Terry Matterson, who kicked 365 goals, and Bob Conway (16).
