Broncos captain Gorden Tallis will take part in his 200th NRL premiership match this Sunday, when he takes the field at Suncorp against reigning premiers Penrith.

This impressive tally includes 54 NRL premiership matches for St George before joining the Broncos, where he has built a world-wide reputation and following, due to his fearless yet passionate nature both on and off the field.

He also made eight Super League World Club Challenge appearances for the Broncos in 1997 and the World Club Championship Final in 2001 against St Helens.

Facing the media after training earlier today, all interest was diverted from the milestone to his decision to retire from representitive football.

Gorden made the shock announcement towards the end of 2003, as he wished to concentrate on club football, with the media attention around the upcoming ANZAC test being his first big challenge.

"Sure you get dissappointed about it, but I've had my day in the sun with rep football," he said.

While Gorden has no regrets about the decision, he still concedes he will no doubt feel envious of those in the green and gold this friday night.

"I think I'd feel envious as a 40-year-old sitting in the stands watching the guys play."

"If I do get jealous, I guess I've got 48 hours to put it into practice on Sunday."

Five Broncos will be backing up from the test match on Sunday, but they will face an equally disadvantaged Penrith side, who have several players scattered throughout both test teams.

"I'm glad their two second-rowers [Galuvao and Puletua] are backing up... I almost wish they were out altogether," he joked.

Despite the rumours, Gorden insists nothing regarding his future is set in concrete as of yet, and he remains adament that he can and will play as long as he is performing.

"I've probably only got 18 or 19 games left really," he quipped.

"Nah, I haven't decided for sure. Wayne and Bruno both know that I'm seeing how things go."

"There's the June 30 anti-tampering deadline and I'm sure they will want to know by then, because there will no doubt be a lot of players floating around and I don't want them to miss the boat."
