Brisbane Broncos forward Shane Webcke is keen to battle on through the trials after copping an accidental knee to the face from Shaun Berrigan at an OzTag game last Friday night. Fears were raised that Webcke could be out for six weeks because of a potential fractured eye socket but doctors have told him that X-rays aren't necessary.

When asked if there was a fracture, Webcke replied: "I don't think so. At this stage there are no dramas. I just can't do contact work while the cuts are still there. It sounds like a big drama going to hospital but it's all right."

Despite the facial injury Webcke remains keen to take part in the trial matches against the Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters later this month. "The trials are part of your warm-up. They're never real hard games, it's always nice to get a run under your belt." he said.

Yesterday the Brisbane Broncos trained at Suncorp Stadium with Dane Carlaw(Knee) the only absentee. Carlaw is confident that the knee is only sore after sand hill running last week.

The players have given the thumps up to the new Suncorp Stadium turf after the sand drama that plagued the surface in 2003 and was blamed for a large amount of injuries during games played there last season.
