Petero stormed onto the scene in 1998. Long earmarked as a future Broncos star, Civoniceva finally got his chance following injury and suspension in 1998 and grabbed it with both arms.
After missing half of both 1999 and 2000 with broken arms, Civoniceva had a vintage 2001. With Shane Webcke and Luke Priddis, Civoniceva played in all 29 Broncos matches, and topped that off with three State of Origin appearances for Queensland and four Tests, as well as the World Club Challenge and a trial game in January.
All up Civoniceva played 38 matches in 2001 and deservedly earnt an extended break from preseason training. His stamina, strength and consistency will be a pivotal aspect of the Broncos' line up in 2002.
