Darren Burns is an old fashioned second rower. Big, tough and powerful, he has been an outstandingly consistent player for the Roosters over a number of years.
A native Queenslander, Burns played his junior football in Dalby before joining the Roosters in 1999.
Burns played 20 games for the Roosters, who ironically were defeated by the Broncos in the 2000 Grand Final. He scored four tries and was a useful player off the bench.
Although he will play much of 2001 with the Toowoomba Clydesdales, his useful ability will come in handy during the testing State of Origin period once again.
