Steve Irwin, affectionately nicknamed 'Croc' after the TV personality the Crocodile Hunter of the same name, has made a remarkable rise to first grade football in just 5 years.
Irwin spent much of his youth playing soccer before picking up Rugby League at the age of 14. He represented Australian Schoolboys in 2000 after being a state rep in soccer and cricket earlier on.
With a lot of pace and plenty of skill, Irwin should see plenty of first grade in 2002 and beyond, particularly after his stunning 2-try debut against North Queensland.
