Veteran prop Andrew Gee has confirmed he will play again for the Brisbane Broncos in 2003. The former Test prop with 235 first grade games for Brisbane under his belt said that he thoroughly enjoyed his 2002 season and felt it was worth running around for another season.

"There's a good bunch of young blokes coming through at the Broncos and it's good being involved with them," Gee said.

"Besides, the end of the season wasn't the best and I don't want to leave the game that way."

Despite rejoining the club from Warrington this season with expectations of spending most of his time with the Toowoomba Clydesdales, the Broncos' Queensland Cup feeder club, Gee played 20 of the club's 26 premiership matches and all three State of Origin games for Queensland.

Gee is expected to fill a similar role in 2003, although he will be under stiff competition from the likes of Corey Parker, Brad Meyers and Michael Coorey who are looking to step up to the next level.

The first grade squad resumes training on Monday afternoon and speculation still surrounds halfback Allan Langer's future. As was the case at this time a year ago, Langer has not confirmed his intentions either way and it is folly to predict what the 36-year-old's plans are.

It took Langer until late January to make up his mind about the 2002 season and it will likely take him just as long this time around. However, with the strong recoveries of Ben Ikin and Scott Prince, Langer may feel it best to stand aside.

While his contribution to the Broncos over his 18 first grade appearances this year was outstanding, and his departure less than desirable with an errant pass ultimately resulting in Brisbane's Preliminary Final defeat at the hands of eventual premiers Sydney, it may be best for the club's future to let the likes of Ikin, Prince and 18-year-old Brett Seymour take control.
