A Broncos scholarship holder, Phil Lee left the club in 1995 in search of a first grade spot at the now defunct South Queensland Crushers. Lee returned in 1997 and was blooded in first grade. It was in 1998 however that Lee stepped up to the highest level and earnt raps from some of the game's most respected judges.

After playing in many different positions, Lee has specialised at hooker and has shown plenty of promise. A good step and deceptive speed help him greatly from dummyhalf, and his defence is flawless.

Phil Lee is still to reach his potential. A player of immense talent, his constant vigil on the interchange bench is making it hard for him to excel. 2000 shaped as an ideal opportunity to boost his career, but unfortunately he suffered a knee injury after round 2, ruling him out for the season.

It was a tragic end after Lee performed sensationally in the opening two rounds of the competition. With 12 months off, it will be interesting to see how Lee recovers.
