2004 was a watershed year for the versatile Berrigan, who found a home beside Brent Tate in the centres. His ability to break tackles and find his way to the line added a new dimension to the Broncos attack and coach Wayne Bennett will no doubt hope he can continue to thrive in the role. He forced his way into the Australian side for the Anzac Test against New Zealand in April and was also a key member of the Kangaroos outfit which took out the Tri-Nations trophy. Injury curtailed his season to just 16 games for the Broncos, but he was still named Best Back.
