It's the move Wayne Bennett has been reluctant to make in past seasons but the decision looks to have been made, for the time being at least. Darren Lockyer is set to reclaim his junior position and join Brett Seymour in the halves at five-eighth. The decision has been made in an attempt to rejuvenate the Brisbane Broncos attacking capabilities, direction and playmaking and to help ease the pressure being placed on Brett Seymour for this coming NRL season. Lockyer will play under the Number 6 jersey against the Melbourne Storm in a trial at Toowoomba on Saturday night.

Injury concerns to Shane Webcke (facial), Dane Carlaw (knee), Michael Devere (shoulder), Brent Tate (shoulder) and Craig Frawley (calf) have given opportunities to other players fighting for a spot in first grade to impress the Broncos.

Former New Zealand Warriors utility Motu Tony is set to be given a shot at fullback, while Shaun Berrigan, highly tipped as being the Broncos hooker is a surprise selection in the centres. Youngster Karmichael Hunt has also received a call-up onto the wing in the starting side.
