The Brisbane Broncos' New Zealand Test hooker Richard Swain has pleaded guilty to the dangerous throw charge arising from last Saturday's 32-18 trial win over the Bulldogs on the Gold Coast.

Swain was charged with a grade one offence after his fourth minute tackle with fellow forward Corey Parker on Bulldogs captain Steve Price saw the former Queensland Origin forward land awkwardly on his neck.

As a result Swain will be unavailable for this Saturday's trial against the Sydney Roosters in Toowoomba, but will be able to take part in the Broncos' premiership opener against Penrith in Sydney on March 16.

It's an unfortunate way for Swain to mark his debut 80-minute performance for the Broncos and is a minor setback in his quest to secure the Brisbane number 9 jersey this season.
