Tipping Competition - How It Works

Registering

To register for the game you must sign up for a BroncoNet Passport. Due to the new conditions and privacy policies of this site, all existing memberships have been cancelled, so you must sign up fresh.

Once you have successfully registered, click into the Play area and select a game from the list on the right to enter your first tip.  On entering a tip, you are registered for the competition.

You can register anytime during the season.

Tipping

Making a tip is easy.  Simply enter the score you think the Broncos will score in the corresponding game, the score you think their opposition will score, and who you think will be the Broncos' first tryscorer.  You can choose not to select a tryscorer if you believe there won't be a try scorer for Brisbane.

Make sure you click the button to submit the form and ensure your tip is saved.

Scoring

The scoring system is based on a number of factors of the Broncos game.  The scoring system is as follows:

  • Correctly tipping the winner: 1 point
  • Picking the exact margin: 9 bonus points
  • Within 1 point of the margin: 8 bonus points
  • Within 2 points of the margin: 7 bonus points
  • Within 3 points of the margin: 6 bonus points
  • Within 4 points of the margin: 5 bonus points
  • Within 5 points of the margin: 4 bonus points
  • Within 6 points of the margin: 3 bonus points
  • Within 7 points of the margin: 2 bonus points
  • Within 8 points of the margin: 1 bonus point
  • Picking the exact scoreline: 5 bonus points
  • Picking the first try scorer: 5 bonus points

Therefore there is a maximum weekly point score of 20 points (correct winner (1) + exact margin (9) + exact score (5) + correct try scorer (5)). An incorrect tip scores no points, even if the first try scorer is chosen correctly.

Winners

The competition winner will be the player with the most competition points at the end of the regular season.  If there is a tied situation, each finals game the Broncos participate in will be used as a sudden death tiebreaker.  If the Broncos fail to make the finals, a countback system will be used based on how many times each player:
  1. Selected the correct margin
  2. Selected the correct score
  3. Selected the correct try scorer

If still tied, the winner will be the player who picked the closest margin the most times.

Members of the BroncoNet Team are eligible to enter the competition, however those responsible for maintaining the tipping competition are ineligible to win prizes.
